Kilgariffe Confirmation and Bishop Colton’s 30th Anniversary of Ordination

On Sunday, 29th June (the Feast of St Peter) the largest single parochial group of young people for Confirmation in the United Dioceses of Cork, Cloyne and Ross was confirmed by Bishop Paul Colton in Kilgariffe Parish Church, Clonakilty, County Cork.  The church was full to capacity, including all the galleries.  At the end of the Service the rector, the Reverend Daniel Owen, announced that the next day – 30th June – would mark the Bishop’s 30th anniversary of ordination as a deacon. The Bishop noted that he was wearing the same red stole that he wore that day 30 years before, and that it still fits him!  On behalf of the parishioners the rector presented a gift to the Bishop, and flowers were presented to Mrs Susan Colton.
