Pet Service at St Peter’s Church, Bandon

Last weekend, a Service of Blessing of Pets was held in St. Peter’s Church, Bandon, County Cork.

Many parishioners attended with their pets as well as volunteers from Irish Dogs for the Disabled. Two trained assistance dogs and two pups in preparation for training were also there. Marnie from the charity spoke about the work of the dogs and how they improve the quality of life of people with disability. The only non-canine pet was a lizard called Puff who sat on a hot water bottle in his box during the service. A collection was taken in support of the training of the dogs. It costs €15000 to train a dog and they receive no government funding.  Here are the photos:
