Pentecost Celebrations and Confirmation Service in Carrigaline, Co. Cork

On Sunday, 8th June – the Feast of Pentecost – the Bishop, the Right Reverend Dr Paul Colton, was in the Church of Saint Mary, Carrigaline, County Cork to preside at the Eucharist.  There was a full church for a festive celebration when ten young people were confirmed.  The Bishop also blessed copies of the Book of Common Prayer which were then given to the newly confirmed as gifts from the parishioners. Under the watchful eye of the rector, the Reverend Elaine Murray, the young people together had baked the bread for the celebration of the Eucharist and, afterwards, over tea and coffee, everyone enjoyed a beautiful Pentecost cake baked and iced by Mrs Hilary Warren-Perry in the shape of a flame of the Spirit.  The choir from the sister parish of St John, Monkstown sang the liturgy and led the singing of hymns under the leadership of organist Roger Ellis.
