In anticipation of their ordination today, the three candidate priests, the Rev. Jean Carney, the Rev. Carole Pound, and the Rev. Richard Dring, spent the last weekend, from Thursday, 8th September to Monday, 12th September, on retreat with the brothers at the Community of the Resurrection – a community founded in 1892, rooted in the Anglican tradition, and formed in a Benedictine round of worship, ministry and hospitality which is based at Mirfield in West Yorkshire.

Together with the clergy of the parishes entrusted with their on-going training, and their Bishop, the Right Rev. Dr Paul Colton, the three candidates spent the weekend in prayer for their ordination, as well as for the parishes, rural deaneries and the diocese in which they will serve.

The ordination will take place today, at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork at 8p.m and members of the public are welcome to attend. The preacher will be the Ven. Adrian Wilkinson, Archdeacon of Cork, Cloyne and Ross. It will be the last time that the Archdeacon is preaching at the cathedral before he leaves the Diocese to become Bishop of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory.
