It finally happened!
The first youth event since March.
After months of keeping in touch with the youth of Cork, Cloyne & Ross over Zoom meetings, the Cork, Cloyne and Ross Diocesan Youth Officer, Hilda Connolly, was finally able to meet the group face to face again – 2 meters apart of course!

But it didn’t quite go to plan.
The original idea of a day kayaking on Lough Hyne near Skibbereen, County Cork was scuppered by the Irish weather. With threats of high coastal winds, the kayaking crew decided that it wasn’t safe to take the group out to sea.
Instead of cancelling the whole day, and with only a day and a half to reorganise, a quick decision was made and a few phone calls later, the day was back on track.
On Saturday the 19th September, everyone met in the car park of the Long Strand, where the group were led by Judy Peters on a 6km walk.
After all that exercise, The Fish Basket, a very popular restaurant on the Long Strand, had prepared a feast for our group.
Thankfully, the weather was nice enough for everyone to dine outside with freshly cooked burgers, fish, and chips.
Hilda and CDYC are hoping to organise a few more outdoor events over the coming months.
