CDYC Quiz Night at the Canon Packham Hall, Douglas, Cork

Youth worker Hilda Connolly writes:

We had a great turn out of very intelligent young people at our Annual Table quiz on Saturday night, 7th March, with some very intense rounds! But it finally came to an end with Adam, Luke & Freddie from Midleton topping the leader board in our 15yr+ category and Ian, Aidan, Tom and Ashley from Rosscarbery topping the under 15yr leader board. So with a point between the 2 leaders the question being asked was “Is the Shield going to Midleton or Rosscarbery”? The West won! Well done Rosscarbery! A huge Thank you goes out to Uwe who manned the electrical and sound system for the night, Rev. Cliff Jeffers, Steven Jeffers and Norman Jackson for correcting and collating the results. Also to the Rev.Isobel Jackson, Peter Coughlan, the Rev. Sarah Marry and Kristin Hollowell and all the leaders that accompanied their youth groups for all their help and for joining in in the craic. Well done to all!

Children in Saint Mary’s Church of Ireland National School, Carrigaline celebrate World Day of Prayer

The Junior Infants of St Mary’s Church of Ireland National School in Carrigaline, for example, with some help from 2nd Class, celebrated the World Day of Prayer at their Assembly that day. This year the service, prepared by the Women of the Bahamas, allowed the children to celebrate the wonderful variety and colour of these exotic islands with real Pineapples and (not so real) Flamingos, Iguanas and Fish.

Cork, Cloyne and Ross Annual ‘Confirmation Morning’ with the Bishop

This is the seventh year that the Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, Dr Paul Colton, has organised a morning to meet all those young people from the Diocese who will be confirmed this year.  The young people met in the Canon Packham Hall in Douglas, Cork on Saturday, 7th March, for a morning of fun, talks, games, and, of course, a chat with the Bishop about their Confirmation in churches around the Diocese later in the year.  Clergy and lay youth workers from the Diocese helped the Bishop run the event.
