Forty-Five Volunteers Complete Children’s Ministry Course

Image 5On Saturday 20th April the Bishop, the Right Reverend Paul Colton will be at St Luke’s Home Education Centre (Northridge House) to celebrate the Eucharist and to present certificates to 45 adult volunteers who have been taking part, throughout the winter and spring, in the Church of Ireland Children’s Ministry Course.  Forty-two of the group are from Cork, Cloyne and Ross and the other three are from Cashel and Ossory, the neighbouring Diocese.

The course content included:  child development; leadership skills; programme planning; children and community; pastoral awareness; and, spirituality and the Bible.  These are all core skills for children’s work.  There was also a chance to look at current resources in music, prayer, craft, courses, games and story-telling.

The work has been overseen by the Reverend Anne Skuse, who is the Diocesan representative on the Church of Ireland Children’s Ministry Network.
