New Rector for Carrigaline and Monkstown

The Reverend Elaine Murray

The Bishop is delighted to announce the appointment of the Reverend Elaine Murray as the new Rector of Carrigaline Union of Parishes.  Elaine is currently serving as Bishop’s Vicar in Saint Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny.

Elaine Murray was born in Dublin in 1958. She is married to Liam since 1982 and they have two children, Conor (21) and Áine (19).

Before ordination, Elaine worked as an IT System’s Analyst in the Financial Services Sector. Ordained Deacon in 2005, Priest in 2006, Elaine served as Bishop’s Vicar and latterly as Vicar in the Kilkenny Group of parishes.

She studied Theology in Trinity College (B Th. 2005) and Ecumenics in the Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College (M Phil (Ecum.) 2011). She likes to read, listen to music, cook and walk with the dog and is passionately interested in issues of justice and ecology.

Elaine’s personal priority in ministry would be as simple as to continue to be an enabler in God’s community on earth.  She hopes to build community within the parish and diocese as well as creating connections with the wider community.

She firmly believes that it is in our relationships with others that we truly witness to our faith. She hopes that she can make a positive difference in people’s spiritual and physical lives by witnessing to Christ’s living presence in her own life.

The Service of Institution will be held in the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Carrigaline at 4 p.m. on Sunday 11th December.

All welcome!
